The school holidays are coming to a close, which means that back-to-school panic is creeping into our households.
With books to buy, uniforms to refresh and stationery to stock up on, the financial stress can start to build up, but we're happy to tell you it doesn't have to.
We've put together some of our best Back to School tips to help you get organised without spending a fortune.
Get a fridge calendar, diary, or utilise your smart phone calendar. Add important school dates such as school carnivals, excursions, payments due, parent teacher interviews, fundraisers and every other commitment to ensure you're prepared for upcoming events.
Before heading to the shops to pick up new binders and notebooks, check your cupboards and last year's supplies to see what you already. Folders can often be used again and it's likely you'll find some brand new supplies tucked away from previous years.
Many schools have second hand book and uniform sales before the term starts, and you can also look online for the items on your child's book list. Not only will it save you some cash, by purchasing pre-loved items you're also doing your part for the environment.
It's never too early to start teaching your kids about saving. Before they start back at school, set up a Ziggy Kids account. The Ziggy Kids account and website are designed especially for kids, with fun and educational games that help kids learn about saving money and setting goals. There's even a section for Parents, where you'll find lots of useful resources including advice on when and how to introduce financial topics to your children. If you deposit a minimum of $20 when opening the account your child will also receive this Ziggy Kids Pack!
Finally, relax and enjoy the rest of school holidays.
If you have any questions about our Ziggy Kids accounts or general finances, please don't hesitate to drop into your local branch or give us a call.
